The party's over . . .

The Saturday Sampler party is over . . . for this year anyway.  We will begin again on the 2nd Saturday in January 2013. (Doesn't that date sound like some kind of science fiction thing!)   The date is Jan. 12th, at 8:00, 9:00, or 10:00 a.m.  You will definitely want to see the fabulous projects we have planned for next year . . . and YES!. . . we finally have a plan! We try with all our creative might to come up with new and original designs that will appeal to everyone.  We are very excited about next year.

Following are the photos of the December blocks.  First of all, the pieced blocks in the neutral colors and the  blue color way.

And the last "Let It Snow" block . . .

Included in your last "Let It Snow" block kit are instructions for assembling the quilt.  We also have finishing kits available with the fabrics we have used.  We love it!

The "Old Glory" quilt for December includes fabric for block #10 and when those are made you will be able to assemble and finish your quilt.  Isn't it fabulous.  It's so nice to have something ready to pull out for a holiday or gift and this is a definite winner for either occasion.

You might also want to see a couple of different options for putting your blocks together.  We have this striking option . . .

And here is the log cabin design which we "kitted" at the beginning of 2012.  Isn't it gorgeous!

We look forward to seeing you in January.  We will have our traditional finished quilt contest for the quilts made in 2012 in April of 2013. The only rule is that you use the block patterns and fabrics we provided.  The setting, finishing fabrics, etc. are up to you! We are giving lots of time to get your quilts done, so reward yourself and join the contest.

12 days of
Christmas

“Twas the month before Christmas,
 And all through the house
Not a thing was left undecorated,
Not even the mouse.

The stockings were hung by the

chimney with care
but my quilting friend’s stocking
still remained bare.

I love my friend dearly and want her
Stocking to be plump
But as I sit and ponder my mind is a frump.

When, what to my wondering eyes
Should appear,

THE 12 MODA DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
Made it perfectly clear!
With gadgets and gizmos and fabrics galore,

Her stocking will be FABULOUS
She’s sure to adore!”

Join us at Valley Fabric Shop . . .
We'll help you count down the days in a jolly good wa
y!

1st day . . . Lighted Seam Ripper
2nd day . . . Sewline Needle Threader
3rd day . . . Measure by the Yard Tape Measure
4th day . . . Rowenta Irons
5th day . . . Best Press (we have a new Peaches and Cream flavor)
6th day . . . Quilt Tags
7th day . . . Italian Embroidery Scossors Klasse Gift Set
8th day . . . Seam Fix Seam Ripper
9th day . . . European styled 4" Heirloom Embroidery Scissors
10th day . . . Sensational Sip and Snip
11th day . . . Big Board
12 day . . . Sweaterstone

Stay tuned each day for details about the day's "celebration" item . . .  and you don't have to wait for the day to purchase that day's item.  You can do them all in one stop!  Starting TODAY!

November "Old Glory"

OOPS!  Since this was not posted in October, here is what your completed star section should looke like.  You will add the checkerboard sashing and the half square border on the outside.  One more pieced block next month, a little sashing, and your quilt top will be finished.  Won't it be grand to pull this out for all patriotic holidays!

November Saturday Sampler

They say the older you get, the faster time goes. . . I hate to think how old I am!!!!!  Here it is almost Thanksgiving!  We wish you all a very happy holiday and hope you enjoy gathering with family and friends.

If you are making the "Old Glory " quilt you will complete the star portion of the quilt, including the half square sashing.  Refer to photo under October Saturday Sampler post.

Here is the neutrals block . . .

and the blues . . .

. . . and the "Let It Snow" block.

Here is a sneak peek for those of you making the
"Let It Snow" quilt.  We have kits for the borders and words available now.  In December we'll show the last block applique and finish the applique on the borders.  Final assembly instructions are also available if you want to start your run to the finish line.  Doesn't it make you smile!

September Saturday Sampler Blocks

Here are the September Saturday Sampler blocks beginning with the Let It Snow block.  It's a fun little pail of snowballs, we put Warm and Natural in the kits for the snowballs!  Makes them soft and fuzzy and very touchable!

The pieced blocks require just a light and a dark this month.   The blue color way is navy
 and white . . .

The "neutrals" color way is black and cream . . .

. . . and the stars and strips is Block #4, you will need to make three of them.

Don't forget to sign up for our Stonehenge Event, Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.  There are still a few spaces and you will love seeing the fabulous trunk show, winning grand door prizes and learning from one of the best manufacturer's in the business.  See you there!

Fall Frenzy

You've invited to our annual Fall Frenzy!

We are so excited to announce, and invite you to our annual Fall Frenzy, Thursday through Friday, Sept. 13-15.  We've been madly making new samples, "oohing and aahing" over new fabric, choosing new kits, and patterns, and just generally have a hard workin' good time.

On Thursday, September 13, at 6:00 p.m. we'll have a Witch's Hat Contest and a Screamin' Dollar Days sale.  Please take a bit of time and decorate a Witch's Hat for Halloween, or actually, any other occasion and we'll show them off, give prizes and awards and have a grand time.  It doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive, just use your creativity (and we KNOW you quilters have it!) and create something that is "you".

Our Screamin' Dollar Days will have you jumping for joy.....deals on notions, tools, kits and other goodies.  We'll serve refreshments and stay open until 9:00.   We look forward to seeing you on the 13th!

Wow! Where has the summer gone?  Soon school will start, the days will cool (not all bad!) and the seasons will begin to change.  In the meantime we are happily stitching away on our Saturday blocks.  We have the nicest ladies who attend and we so, sew, (sorry. . . couldn't resist!) so appreciate each of you.

Here is our neutrals block . . .

followed by our "blues" color way . . .

and the Let It Snow quilt.  You can use any of the four colors in the kit for the letters of your choice.

Lastly, "The Old Glory" project with only one block this month, not the usual three.
Don't forget to use your Easy Angle ruler, makes this tiny block a snap.

Happy stitching, and next month on Saturday Sampler weekend, we'll be having our Fall Sale and Open House.  More to come about that!

Saturday Sampler June 2012

Hi and welcome to an online viewing of our Saturday Sampler Blocks.

Here is the "Old Glory" block.  Don't cut off the points on your block like we did on the photo.  Our block has lovely and accurate points!

The pieced block is a "cheater" method for making the Lemoyne Star.  The tradtional block is created with "Y" seams, we used half square triangles and flying geese.  Here is the neutrals color way. . .

. . . and the blue color way.

The  "Let It Snow" block is this cute little juggler.  The face and arms line up with the bottom of the block and will be caught in the seam when the quilt is completed.

We missed those who didn't make it today.  Look forward to seeing you next month!
