Western Art

If you are needing a little inside project on these wintery days........how about a little western art. These are small wall hangings, and so dramatic using silhouettes. The technique is simple iron-on applique and a great way to try your hand at machine quilting. Choose from several different designs. In the meantime.........stay warm. Maybe the wind will wear out the snow!

August Blocks

This month's apron block is (maybe) our favorite and that is almost final! We love the ruffles and the decorative stitching that looks like rick-rack. It just doesn't get any more fun than this!

And for our western block, every cowboy needs a saddle and we love the dimension the topstitching adds to ours. Makes us want to climb on a horse and go for a ride on this beautiful summer day.

The pieced sampler blocks are a very traditional design called "Right Hand of Friendship". They would make a lovely one block quilt, vary the colors, scrappy, black and red, batiks. . . no end to the possibilities. We hope you enjoy making this month's designs.

June Saturday Sampler

It is Saturday Sampler time again, and we have some very nice blocks to share. The "cowboy" letters are a fun addition to our western quilt.

For Grandma's Apron quilt we love the very vintage style of trim on the apron this month.

Our pieced block is a basket, quite a traditional block actually. Make a delightful quilt using just this block. Oops! forgot to photo the yellow and blue block, it will be coming soon.

March Saturday Sampler

It's that time again, another day of Saturday Sampler fun. We have the NICEST ladies that join us. . . one can't help but enjoy the day. We are always glad when the weather cooperates and our "out-of-towners" are able to make it on good roads.

We enjoyed viewing some of the completed sampler quilts from last year. They are wonderful and of course we forgot to get snapshots of the individual ladies and their quilts. We will try and do that next month and post the photos. Many talented quilters shared their projects. We thank each one!

This is the apron block for March. It is hard to see in the photo, but the pockets are dimensional. We needed a little 1930's red in our quilt, so the accent color does that job.

Our western quilt block is a hat. . . every cowboy has a few!!

This is the pieced block we are featuring this month. And oops. . . .forgot to take a photo of the blue color way, that will be posted ASAP. These Saturdays that are "Sampler Days" are so much fun and such a delight to

visit with so many terrific ladies. . . sometimes it's easy to forgot the job!

Saturday Fun

We had such a great time today with all the Saturday ladies. Bobbi designed darling displays for our new blocks, all FOUR of them. We're going western, retro, and patchwork all at once. We will post the block photos each month.
